a courtroom murder mystery by Agatha Christie
Sir Wilfrid Robarts, famous and brilliant criminal barrister, is consulted unexpectedly by Leonard Vole, who is suspected of having murdered Miss Emily French.
Guileless and charming, Vole succeeds in convincing Sir Wilfrid and his solicitor, Mayhew, of his innocence but the police arrive, arrest him and take him away.
The next visitor is Romaine, Vole’s enigmatic wife, whose attitude arouses the lawyers’ suspicions.
The action then moves to the Central Criminal Court (the famous “Old Bailey”) and the trial of Leonard Vole, the outcome of which, following a series of sensational, Christie-style twists and revelations, is unexpected to say the least …
